Jingdezhen has been important in Chinese ceramics for centuries. The area provided royalty with a rich variety of products and the industry has been an essential part of the local economy.
Jingdezhen's fine wares have gained an international reputation and the city has stood for the ingenuity of Chinese people.
Contemporary works in porcelain by four artists from Britain, Japan and China - Roger Law, Felicity Aylieff, Ah Xian and Takeshi Yasuda - have been made in collaboration with a network of small porcelain factories that make up Jingdezhen.
The importance of the city, in Jiangxi province, is illustrated through these important collections of porcelain.
