CMC says armed forces should study Xi's second book on governance
BEIJING -- All units of the People's Liberation Army and armed police should study President Xi Jinping's new book on governance, according to a notice made public Monday by the general office of the Central Military Commission (CMC).
The second volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" was published in November.
"Studying the book helps deepen the understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC)," the notice said.
It said that Xi's thought is a guiding ideology the Party must follow for a long time to come.
"It is a major political task for the whole Party and the military to study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, at present and for the future," the notice said.
It is important for officers and soldiers to study both the second volume and the first volume, which was published in 2014, to unify thought and action, the notice said.
It also stressed the importance of studying a book of Xi's selected remarks on national defense and building a strong military, which was published earlier this year.
