The Ninth Chinese Chronic Disease Management Conference was held at Taihu International Expo Center in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on June 14 and 15, to "implement the Healthy China strategy and strengthen national health management".
The conference was directed by the Bureau of Disease Control of the National Health Commission of China and was sponsored by the ThinkTank Research Center for Health Development and the Chinese Association on Tobacco Control, with the support of the Wuxi people's government.
The annual conference provides a platform for chronic disease experts and doctors to communicate on the management of chronic diseases in China.

"Chronic diseases are preventable, treatable and controllable," said Mao Qun'an, director of the Bureau of Disease Control of the National Health Commission of China. "The key lies in prevention and the establishment of a prevention and control system for chronic diseases that is suitable for China's conditions."
Wang Longde, deputy director of the NHCC's Commission for Stroke Prevention Project, said: "The management of chronic diseases is a systematic work and it needs concerted efforts from industries, society and individuals. We must start with the factors that affect health and adopt related policies."
The conference attracted over 2,600 participants from fields including health administration, disease prevention and health education, to discuss such topics as the internet of things in health and health security.
