Chicago agricultural futures lower in morning trade
CHICAGO - Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities traded lower on Tuesday morning, with wheat futures falling on weak demand for US supplies.
The most active December corn was down 0.5 cent at 3.6675 US dollars per bushel as of 1530 GMT. December wheat was 6.75 cents lower at 5.1925 dollars. November soybean was down 7.75 cents at 8.375 dollars.
Total commitments to purchase US wheat from overseas buyers is down 25 percent to 9.39 million tonnes, the government said in a report last week.
However, Australian wheat futures on Monday jumped more than 2 percent after the Australian government lowered its forecast for its wheat crop to 19.1 million tonnes from 21.9 million in June.
As for weather forecast for agricultural crop, flood warnings are still in effect for several counties along the Mississippi River on the Missouri and Illinois border, according to the National Weather Service.
