My story in China

Chinese is considered to be one of the most difficult languages to learn, as it has characters. Every letter seems to be a work of calligraphy, which I still find fascinating. The difficult made me eager to study harder and get to a better level. After spending one year here, I have realized that to better understand Chinese culture, it is important to speak the language.

There is one Chinese saying, 大處著眼，小處著手。 (Keep the general goal in sight while tackling daily tasks). With this in my mind I set my own timetable. I wake up early in the morning, run, and after eating breakfast attend classes daily. After that, I go for lunch and then take some rest. I play badminton with my Chinese friends in the evening and go to bed early.

There is one Chinese saying, 一寸光陰一寸金，寸金難買寸光陰。 (An inch of time is worth an inch of gold, but an inch of gold may not buy an inch of time). This taught me the importance of time, how to utilize it in a proper way, how to manage our time according to the situation.

In China, I learned cooking. We have cooking facilities in our dorms. It was an awesome experience because until then I didn’t know I could cook such delicious food. Besides that, I really enjoy Chinese food and cuisines. I have also tried Chinese tea which has a long historical background.

What's my impression of China? It is not surprising that China is the world's second-largest economy. It has achieved that through a strong common goal of weaving in a common language. A country of more than one billion people can live without hunger, which is the key to people's health and hard work. Science and technology should not only be high-tech, but also help in alleviating global issues.
