Artist salutes female doctor working in Wuhan
An artist sketched a portrait of front line medic Zhu Guochao as a gift on the International Women's Day.
Zhu, 41, is the director of intensive care unit at the Sixth Hospital of Wuhan and did not hesitate to join the fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia after the epidemic broke out in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province. To save more patients, she decided to live in the hospital and sent her daughter to the care of her sister in Loudi in Hunan province.
Sadly, three of her family members, her husband, father- and mother-in-law, were diagnosed with the disease while she was working around the clock on the front line. In late January, she lost her mother-in-law.
"I had a rough time recently," she admitted. "But as long as I am wearing the doctor's white coat, I need to shoulder a doctor's responsibility."
Moved by Zhu's acts, Professor Peng Ran at Jianghan University's academy of arts worked overnight to draw a sketch of Zhu Guochao based on her photo to salute the hero battling against the virus and as a Women's Day gift.
