Local govts order stringent safety inspections for quarantine sites
Local authorities have ordered all medical quarantine facilities in Beijing to strengthen safety inspections on March 9.
A joint working group of five teams has been dispatched by the Beijing Emergency Management bureau to medical observation buildings around the city, to improve the safety management and remove hazards at the sites, including physical structures, water, electric, gas and heating systems, and fire-fighting equipment, as well as safety training for staff workers, emergency response measures and emergency duty regulations.
Other regions across China also are improving safety management in medical observation sites after the deadly collapse of a designated medical observation hotel in Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province, on Saturday night.
East China's Zhejiang province issued an urgent notice on Sunday, requiring safety inspection work in facilities for medical observation in the entire province be finished before March 20.
About one hour after the Quanzhou collapse, Jingzhou city in Central China's Hubei province launched safety inspection work in facilities for medical observation and hospitals in the city.
Shishou, a county-level city in Jingzhou, finished its safety inspection work at 74 hotels and 18 hospitals overnight.
Guangzhou and Foshan in South China's Guangdong province and Qingdao in East China's Shandong province also carried out safety inspection work beginning Sunday to eliminate security risks and ensure the safety of people's lives.
