Italy tightens lockdown as COVID-19 figures grow

The usually busy and vibrant streets of Rome are deserted after the government declared an extension to its lockdown yesterday.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced in the televised speech that all shops except supermarkets, food stores, and chemists must now close.
