On Thursday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock chaired the UK's daily COVID-19 press briefing. Hancock announced that £13.4bn historic NHS debt would be written off and he set a new goal of delivering 100,000 tests per day by the end of April. A temporary mortuary is being built in east London to cope with an expected rise in the number of deaths among COVID-19 patients. London's ExCel center has been transformed into a temporary hospital, which is expected to house up to 4,000 beds.
