Construction begins on railway connecting Beijing airport, Tianjin
TIANJIN -- Workers have broken ground on a railway project connecting the Beijing Daxing International Airport and a railway station in northern China's Tianjin Municipality.
The first phase of the project began Tuesday in the city of Langfang, northern China's Hebei province, according to the Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission.
The Tianjin-Daxing Railway forms part of the major projects in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It connects the Tianjinxi Railway Station in Tianjin and the Beijing Daxing International Airport with a length of 100.6 km.
At completion, it will be the fourth high-speed railway connecting Beijing and Tianjin.
Beijing Daxing International Airport went into operation on Sept. 25, 2019. It is expected to realize a passenger throughput of more than 100 million a year in the future.
