Yuan strengthens further against dollar
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened for a fourth consecutive day to 6.9438 against the US dollar on Thursday, the strongest in almost five months, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. The stronger yuan against the dollar was partly due to domestic economic recovery as well as continued capital inflows, analysts said. China's economy grew 3.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, following a 6.8-percent contraction in the first quarter, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
