New mural adds color to Yangpu district
Contemporary graffiti artist Qian Yuan recently completed his latest wall painting New Fisherman Boy, which can be found on a residential building in Shanghai's Yangpu district.
The artwork is part of the Color, Way of Love Art+ Project that was launched by Nippon Paint.
Launched in 2016, the project has invited well-known artists and designers from China and overseas to integrate art and color into local culture, with the aim of caring for children and protecting animals.
The project started with an artist from Italy creating a wall painting titled Childhood Dream for a kindergarten in Shanghai's Zhangjiang High Tech Park in 2016.
Over the past four years, 28 artists have been invited to create 31 murals in Pudong New Area, Yangpu, Xuhui, and Putuo districts. Two of these works were created this year – the one by Qian and another in Xuhui district by Chinese artist Lin Zinan.
