Caution needed in examining metaverse, advisor says

Metaverse is a vision for future development, but it is now in a nascent stage and the public should rationally examine the tech buzzword, said Zhang Yunyong, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

"Now, the metaverse is only at the conceptual level. The supporting technologies and the word itself are still far from becoming a reality," said Zhang, who is also general manager of China Unicom's Yunnan branch.

The current hype of the metaverse is inseparable from the forces of capital, and the disorderly expansion of capital must be resolutely resisted, Zhang said, adding the public should look at the word rationally.
