Lewandowski and Haaland rumors causing turmoil on European transfer markets

BERLIN - The unsolved future of Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland keeps German football busy.

If things go as expected, the Bundesliga could well lose two of its internationally recognized figureheads.

The Norwegian's agent Mino Raiola seems in advanced negotiations with Manchester City as several media reports indicate.

Only the club of Spanish star coach Pep Guardiola seems capable of addressing the financial requirements of the assumed 300 million euro package.

Spanish competitors such as Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to keep a close eye on the development and, in case the deal fails, possibly step in.

But generally, it seems a done deal that 21-year-old Haaland is leaving his current side Borussia Dortmund at the end of this season counting on an exit clause worth 75 million euro.

Dortmund advisor Matthias Sammer spoke about the dizzying figures involved. "I nearly lost conciseness; my wife had to help me up. Considering what I saw, it's possible," the former German international and TV pundit stated.

If the Haaland deal fails for the Citizens, the Premier League side could turn their eyes in the direction of Lewandowski.

Reports and pundits' comments speak of great unrest of the Pole as Bayern so far missed to set up serious talks about a contract extension longer than 2023.

German record international Lothar Matthaeus said he is speechless and bewildered due to Bayern's failures to secure Lewandowski's future.

The former Norwegian international and Eintracht Frankfurt player, Jan-Aage Fjortoft is convinced 33-year-old Lewandowski intends to leave Bayern this summer.

Matthaeus said Bayern can be happy about the impeccable character of Lewandowski as the Pole keeps on playing at a high level.

The sports magazine sport-Bild reported of growing activities of the striker's management as the Pole has left his demand to join a team capable to win the Champions League over the upcoming three years.

Insiders name Real and City as possible targets for Lewandowski.

While Bayern denies actions regarding Haaland, the departure of Jerome Boateng, David Alaba, and Niklas Sule (this summer) ongoingly caused unrest as the trio left for free.

Sporting director Salihamidzic is under fire as the Bavarian transfer policy seems to lack a convincing strategy. Reports speak of growing tensions between Salihamidzic and coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Matthaeus blamed Kahn and Salihamidzic for lacking the needed interhuman abilities when it comes to dealing with players. "Something like that, I am talking about Lewandowski and others, would never have happened with Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge around," Matthaeus said.
