China's treasures treasured by expats

Of China's Four Treasures of Study - brush, inkstick, paper and ink stone, two come from Shexian County in Anhui province. Known as Huizhou in ancient China, Shexian was famous for culture and literature celebrities and business people. It remains home of Huizhou inkstick and ink stone.

"A Date with China" 2022 international media tour explored the two treasures at a workshop of Laohu Kaiwen inkstick factory in Shexian county on June 30, 2022.

Made from oil from animals and plants, animal skin, musk and gold foil, Huizhou inkstick is smooth both in painting and calligraphy and stays indelible for long. Huizhou inkstick has been listed as national intangible cultural heritage and industrial heritage.
