Arsenal enjoys best start in Premier League since 2004

LONDON -- Arsenal enjoyed its best start in the Premier League in 18 years after winning 3-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta's side has started a new season with three consecutive wins for the first time since 2004.

Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard, the newly appointed captain, opened the scoring in the fifth minute and took advantage of another control from Gabriel Jesus to net his side's second goal six minutes later.

Arsenal was moving the ball quickly and confidently. In the 54th minute, French center back William Saliba curled in the third off the underside of the bar.

Harry Kane's 185th Premier League goal for Tottenham, beating Kun Aguero's record goals for one club, was enough to give his side a 1-0 home win over Wolves in the opening game of the day.

Kane nodded home a corner at the far post after his side had twice hit the woodwork. Wolves paid for some wayward finishing and have now gone 10 matches without a win stretching back into last season.

Aleksandar Mitrovic's 90th-minute header gave Fulham the first win after its return to the top-flight, after Marco Silva's side looked to have thrown victory away.

Fulham led 2-0 after Bobby Reid's first-minute goal and Joao Palhinha's header, but Brentford fought back through an excellent strike from Christian Norgaard on the stroke of halftime and Ivan Toney's 71st-minute goal. Mitrovic scored in injury time to gift Fulham a 3-2 win.

Wilfried Zaha scored twice as Crystal Palace enjoyed a 3-1 home win over Aston Villa.

Villa took a fifth-minute lead through Ollie Watkins, but Zaha equalized two minutes later and put Palace ahead just before the hour, before Jean-Philippe Mateta added a third with 20 minutes to play.

Everton looked to be on the way to its third consecutive defeat when Brennan Johnson put Nottingham Forest 1-0 up at Goodison Park with 10 minutes left, but Demarai Gray's 88th-minute equalizer following a long clearance from Jordan Pickford saved a point for Frank Lampard's side, who nevertheless look set for another season of struggle.

Che Adams netted on 68 and 84 minutes as Southampton came from behind to win 2-1 away to Leicester City, who went ahead 10 minutes into the second half through James Maddison's exceptional strike.
