301 test positive for COVID-19 in Guiyang

The epidemic prevention and control situation in Guiyang, Guizhou province, is still severe, officials said at a news conference on Wednesday.

As of 2 pm on Wednesday, Guiyang has reported 301 people positive for the coronavirus, 115 cases more than the day before. In addition, some tubes of mixed nucleic acid testing samples are under rechecking, said Liu Lan, vice-mayor of Guiyang.

She said that 40 percent of the infected people were linked to a logistics park in the city's Huaxi district, 23 percent were linked to a sub-district in Nanming districit, while nine percent to a compound in Yunyan district.

"In general, the latest outbreak points are relatively concentrated. However, it continues to spread in Huaxi district, presenting multi-point sporadic and cluster infections. The transmission chain in Nanming district continues to extend and has spilled over," said Liu.

In order to quickly cut the chain of transmission, Guiyang has put Huaxi district under static management since Sept 2. The scope has gradually been expanded and the whole city is under static management now.

Liu said the city now takes nucleic acid screening and material supply as the top priority, but due to the limited transshipment capacity, some difficulties have occurred.

"We're doing the best to improve it," she said, asking residents to fully cooperate with the implementation of static management.
