Shanghai implements new COVID-19 measures
Shanghai will no longer carry out mass nucleic acid screening in administrative division level, unless under special conditions when the COVID-19 local infections are beyond tracing, it was announced on Sunday. Meanwhile, normalized nucleic acid test will be well organized.
The announcement, made by the Shanghai municipal government, is an answer to a notice released by the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism that lays out 20 measures aimed at upgrading disease control measures on Friday.
According to the announcement, Shanghai will strictly follow the 20 measures which include reducing the COVID-19 quarantine period for contacts of confirmed cases and inbound overseas travelers from 10 days to eight, no longer tracing secondary close contacts and adjusting categories of COVID-risk areas from three tiers to two.
