New finance school in Shanghai inaugurated

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) unveiled a new finance school in Lingang district, Shanghai on Monday.

Called SUFE Dishui Lake Advanced School of Finance, the institution offers full-time and part-time graduate and post-graduate education and specializes in the training of high-level financial talents.

Chen Jinshan, director of the Lingang Special Area Administration, said the goal of establishing the institute is to focus on nurturing various types of talents needed for the development of emerging finance. The new school, he added, will benchmark itself against top international standards in terms of educational quality.

During the unveiling ceremony, 24 enterprises from the domestic financial industry signed cooperation agreements with the school to cultivate talents who will support the growth of the emerging finance industry.

Liu Yuanchun, president of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, was appointed as the Dean of the school, while Chen Xuanjuan and Zhang Jun were named the executive dean and vice dean of the school respectively.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by guests including Liu Qiao, dean of the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, and Eric Solheim, president of the Belt and Road Initiative Green Development Institute and the former executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme.
