Musk knows US' interests better than Biden: Editorial flash
The Joe Biden administration is not assuming any breakthrough will happen in Sino-US trade relations, as deputy US Trade Representative Sarah Bianchi said, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk's visit shows US entrepreneurs do not agree.
In his meeting with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Musk compared China to an economic twin to the US. True, those in Washington might dislike this twin, but there is no way for them to get rid of their sibling without a great deal of pain.
What China provides best suits US entrepreneurs' interests, namely a fair, open, equal business environment where they can find ample opportunities. By shouting "decoupling", politicians in Washington mean to rally more votes, but it is those entrepreneurs that will suffer losses and US workers that will find their jobs perishing in the process.
Musk's visit is the best evidence people in China and the US have much in common. It is not China vs. the US, but those promoting mutual benefit against a few selfish China hawks.
