The Wuxi Museum in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, unveiled an exhibition on Dec 15 to display the works of the city's painters and calligraphy masters of all dynasties.

Running until March 2024, the exhibition showcases more than 80 paintings and calligraphy works in the museum's collection, making it a systematic presentation of the development of art in Wuxi.

As early as the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), Wuxi painter Gu Kaizhi led Chinese painting art to maturity with brilliant techniques and theories on conveying spirit by form.

In the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), Wuxi native Ni Yunlin set off a craze of paintings of man-of-letters, and his landscape paintings are considered the top artistic achievement of such artworks in China.

In the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), numerous skilled painters and calligraphers sprang up in Wuxi and in modern times, many skilled artists, including Xu Beihong, Qian Songyan, and Wu Guanzhong, were born in the city. Contemporary Wuxi-born artists have also left their mark in Chinese art history.

The exhibition features traditional Chinese garden landscape and audio, videos, and digital technologies are employed to create an elegant, cultural atmosphere, immersing visitors in traditional Chinese culture.
