Floating city
China's first domestically made large cruise ship Adora Magic City marks a major milestone for the country's shipbuilding industry. The ship will have its inaugural commercial voyage on January 1, 2024.
The Adora Magic City's statistics are mind-boggling. The 135,500-gross-tonnage jumbo ship can accommodate a maximum of 5,246 passengers in its 2,125 guest rooms who will be served by 1,292 crew members from around the world.
It is also equipped with a 16-story, 40,000-square-meter living and entertainment public area, which is known as a "modern city on the sea".
To make the vessel function, there are 107 different systems, 25 million parts and components, 4,750 kilometers of cables and 365 km of pipes. The ship was built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation's Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co.
