WND strengthens business ties with Japan, signs new cooperation agreements

A delegation from Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, also known as Wuxi New District, recently concluded a four-day visit to Japan, where they engaged in extensive economic exchanges and strengthened cooperation with Japanese multinational companies.

During the visit, cooperation agreements for a number of high-quality projects were signed, including many with long-standing partners, reflecting the growing confidence of Japanese companies in the district.

For example, Murata Manufacturing, a world-leading electronic components manufacturer and the largest supplier of ceramic multilayer capacitors, signed a new cooperation agreement with WND. Murata has been operating in Wuxi for 30 years and is now focusing on developing an intelligent manufacturing park.

During a meeting on April 18, four projects involving medical devices, sensors, and semiconductor equipment were signed, three of which represented overseas investment by WND enterprises.

In addition to signing agreements, the delegation visited several prominent Japanese companies, including Seiko Epson, Sumitomo Chemical, Sharp, and Denso Ten, where they discussed potential cooperation and encouraged Japanese companies to broaden their business footprint in the region.

During a high-level forum for key enterprises on April 18, Japanese business leaders expressed strong interest in WND's open market, favorable industrial advantages, and new development opportunities. They also expressed intentions to invest in WND.

Currently, WND is home to about 400 Japanese enterprises, accounting for 40 percent of the total number of Japanese companies in Wuxi. Fifty-two of the world's Fortune 500 Japanese multinational companies, including Sony, Panasonic, Hitachi, Sharp, and Ricoh, have invested over $12 billion in the district. The revenue from Japanese enterprises in WND is nearly 130 billion yuan ($17.95 billion), making the district a hub for Japanese investment in China.
