State Grid inspections ensure cattle breeding success in Ningxia

On June 7, State Grid Shizuishan Power Supply Company organized a Communist Party member service team to conduct on-site inspections at the Runfengyuan Dairy Cattle Breeding Base in Shizuishan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

Since the beginning of summer, State Grid Shizuishan Power Supply Company has formulated an emergency plan to deal with the peak electricity consumption in summer. The company has been conducting visits and inspections of key users in cattle breeding areas, greenhouse planting bases and poultry farms within its area. The staff members visited those groups, inspected safety hazards related to electrical usage and explained the measures to ensure safe electricity usage.

The Runfengyuan Dairy Cattle Breeding Base is located in Miaomiaohu village, Taole town. With an investment of more than 20 million yuan ($2.76 million), it is breeding about 10,000 dairy cows. And its automation rate has reached 80 percent, making it a key government concern. With more than 10 automated devices used for automatic mixing and automatic feeding, the electrical load is significant. Therefore, it installed two 400 kilovolt-ampere transformers to ensure the normal operation of automated equipment in the plants.

Based on the electricity usage of characteristics of the breeding base, staff members from the company learned about the requirements of the base and carefully inspected the operation of electrical equipment such as automatic temperature control and automatic feed mixers. They also inspected the conditions of transformer line drop fuses, bare wire insulation and main power lines. They replaced damaged lines, knife switches, sockets and other equipment at the base. Additionally, they provided information on safety precautions for electrical usage in breeding and emergency procedures in case of electrical faults.

During the line maintenance, State Grid Shizuishan Power Supply Company arranged emergency power supply vehicles at the base, to ensure the normal operation of the breeding enterprise's equipment.

"I really appreciate your service. Though the number of electrical devices in our breeding farm is increasing, I never thought about checking for safety hazards in our electrical equipment. Today, with your help in inspecting the electrical equipment, I feel much more at ease," said the person in charge of the base.
