Fujian recently unveiled a plan to transform itself into a robust ecological province, hoping to build the foundation for its "Beautiful Fujian" goal by 2030 and fully realize the goal in 2035.

The plan focuses on accelerating its shift towards sustainable development and lifestyles, aiming to pioneer a green, low-carbon, and circular development model for a "Beautiful China".

Efforts will concentrate on transitioning traditional industries towards green and low-carbon practices, optimizing resource utilization, and fostering strategic emerging sectors like new energy, new materials and the low-altitude economy.

Moreover, the plan highlights the expansion of electric vehicle usage in urban transport, logistics, and heavy trucks, while also ensuring comprehensive shore power infrastructure at key ports.

Incentive mechanisms such as green credits will be established as well, promoting a wider array of eco-friendly products and consumption patterns to encourage green living.

The plan also outlines a holistic conservation strategy from mountains to oceans, fostering harmonious coexistence between humans and nature to create a Beautiful China. It underscores integrated ecological conservation and restoration of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands and deserts, with a focus on protecting and restoring key ecosystems to enhance biodiversity and sustainability.

Recognizing the paramount importance of a healthy environment for public welfare, the plan emphasizes the promotion of innovative practices and comprehensive pollution control at different levels to maintain ecological quality nationwide.

Efforts will also be intensified to collectively reduce emissions of pollutants, enhance air quality, expedite the development of scenic rivers and lakes, and continually improve the quality of surface water.
