After days of fierce competition, the Burgos-BH professional team from Spain claimed first place in the overall team standings. Aaron Gate, a member of Burgos-BH, won first place in the overall individual standings with an impressive time of 6:08:41.
Gate said that this was his first time attending the race in Xizang. It was the first time he and his team had raced in a place with an altitude of 3,500 meters. Therefore, it was a very challenging race for them.
It takes time to adapt to the different oxygen levels at such an altitude, Gate said, adding that he also found it easier to build speed.
