China World Trade Center to upgrade district

The China World Trade Center will take further moves, including driving the upgrading of the business district and developing new types of businesses, in a bid to better tap into customer needs and boost consumer sentiment, said a senior official.

Sheng Qiuping, vice-minister of commerce and chairman of China World Trade Center, emphasized that CWTC will leverage its strengths to advance the renovation and upgrade the business district with the aim to cultivate a dynamic internal ecosystem. 

"We will develop new business formats, continuously innovate products and services, improve offerings, enhance quality, and strengthen our brands," Sheng said. 

He made the remarks during the 40th anniversary of the China World Trade Center celebration ceremony. Themed "Pursuing Excellence for a Greater Future", the meeting was held in Beijing on Thursday. 

Sheng outlined CWTC's strategic priorities, including leveraging new technologies, enhancing business innovation and upgrading its business districts to meet evolving market demands.

He said CWTC will integrate cultural, fashion, technology and green elements into its development, fully aligning with international standards to enhance customer satisfaction and boost competitiveness. 

Looking forward, Sheng announced plans to deepen the core concepts of environmental, social and governance within the organization within one to two years, and the CWTC aims to complete a digital transformation within three to five years. 

Guo Huiguang, vice-chairman of China World Trade Center, expressed strong confidence in CWTC's future development given the strong resilience of the Chinese economy, the country's deepening reforms and robust policy support.

Fan Yonghong, deputy secretary of the Chaoyang District Committee of the Communist Party of China, hailed CWTC as a symbol of China's reform and opening-up achievements, saying it has significantly contributed to regional development and remains a vital player in Beijing's economic landscape.

During the past decades, CWTC has generated an accumulative revenue of over 70 billion yuan ($9.86 billion), creating more than 20,000 jobs, official data showed.
