China announces visa-free policy for Danish nationals

China has decided to implement a visa-free policy for Danish nationals and hopes Denmark will also introduce more facilitation measures for Chinese people to visit the Nordic country, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday.

Wang made the remarks when meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen in New York.

He congratulated Denmark's election for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the period of 2025-2026, saying that he expects to strengthen communication and coordination with the country to jointly contribute to world peace and security.

The foreign minister reiterated that China is committed to the path of green, low-carbon and sustainable development, expressing willingness to enhance cooperation with Denmark and other European countries in green transformation.

Wang said he hopes Denmark will play a positive role in pushing negotiations between China and the European Union to find proper solutions to the EU tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.

Next year will mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Denmark ties. He called on the two countries to plan for high-level exchanges in the next stage to guide the development of bilateral relations.

Rasmussen thanked China for implementing the visa-free policy for Denmark, which he said will promote bilateral tourism cooperation and personnel exchanges.

Denmark, whose development has benefited from free trade, will continue to adhere to free trade and advance economic globalization, he said, adding that he hopes the EU and China will find a proper way to handle trade frictions.
