Rare sighting of bird that inspired an icon of traditional Chinese culture. The green peafowl, thought to have been the species from which the legendary phoenix myth sprouted, number fewer than a thousand in the wild today. In China, green peafowls can only be found in certain areas of Yunnan province. They differ greatly from the common blue peafowls seen in zoos. Protected within nature reserves, monitoring devices recently captured green peafowls in their natural environment. Let's take a look, courtesy of China Daily's Going Green series.
