Spring Airlines' new hangar put into use in Yangzhou

Shanghai-based budget carrier Spring Airlines put a new hangar project into use in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province on Friday, which can complete overhauls of 200 aircraft every year.

The project, involving an investment of 600 million yuan ($81.86 million), was initially launched in December 2019 under a strategic agreement inked between Spring Airlines and the Yangzhou municipal government. Occupying 43,000 square meters of gross floor area, the project consists of an Airbus A320 (A321) maintenance hangar, an aircraft paint hangar and other facilities buildings.

The maintenance hangar can accommodate up to three aircraft at once and is capable of offering maintenance services for A320 series aircraft fuselage, engine replacement as well as nondestructive testing, said the airliner.

Wang Zhijie, president of Spring Airlines, said a series of innovative applications were created in the development of the project, which has become an example of how new quality productive forces are driving industry development.

Jiang Chunshui, Party secretary of the CAAC (the Civil Aviation Administration of China) East China Regional Administration, called the successful completion of the hangar project a solid step Spring Airlines made in the carrier's capability building of aircraft maintenance.

"Being an important part of East China's public aviation transportation, the new hangar project is hoped to further enhance Spring Airlines' safety operation and management capability, promoting innovation and high-quality development.
