More than 200 residents of the 24-story Zhaofeng Building in downtown Shanghai opened a new page of life as a project to renovate the exterior of the high-rise built in 1993 was completed at the end of 2024.
The building has aged considerably as the loose bricks fell from the building's exterior over the past years, causing serious safety concerns. Aided by the residents' committee and Party chief of the local community, 95 households reached a consensus to raise money within themselves to renovate the building's facades, showcasing a remarkable display of community initiative and cooperation and a sense of unity and pride among the residents.
