Jilin province in Northeast China recently introduced measures to further expand the scale and impact of its ice and snow consumption. The total funding for ice and snow consumption vouchers has now been increased to 100 million yuan ($13.8 million).

A key part of the plan involves organizing activities to promote cultural and tourism consumption, such as nationwide events for the Chinese New Year, which are expected to boost local consumption during peak tourist seasons.

Meanwhile, promotional campaigns like "Refreshing Jilin with 22 C in Summer" will target metropolises with populations exceeding 10 million.

Public cultural institutions such as museums, cultural centers, art galleries, and libraries are being encouraged to explore new avenues for cultural experiences and art education, expanding their outreach and making art more accessible to the public.

The government also plans to launch stage productions for children that will feature innovative performance formats and scenes. Tourist attractions, cultural parks, commercial complexes, and art districts will be encouraged to introduce child-friendly venues such as amusement parks, workshops, and creative spaces to enrich the visitor experience.

Furthermore, Jilin is promoting the healthy development of educational tourism, particularly for travelers from Japan, South Korea, and Russia.

The provincial government is also enhancing cultural and tourism services for the elderly to foster the silver economy. This includes the establishment of comprehensive wellness vacation centers that integrate health, leisure, and cultural education and cater to the elderly population.

In addition, there is a strong push to develop winter tourism attractions like ice sculptures, ice fishing, ice restaurants, ice dragon boating, snow sculptures, snow rafting, and snow trekking. The development of Jilin-themed cultural products, including items related to ginseng, mineral water, traditional costumes, and animation, will also be encouraged.
