State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has innovatively researched, developed and applied the 'new intelligent integrated terminal'

On March 1, beside the public transformer in Ginkgo Garden, Zhenjiang city, the staff members of State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company were installing a new type of intelligent device. This device, known as the "new intelligent integrated terminal," is gradually replacing the traditional distribution transformer terminal. Up to now, State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has deployed this new device in 87 distribution areas in the city.

As an important device for monitoring the operation of distribution area transformers, the distribution transformer terminal is closely related to the electricity consumption for the production and daily life of the people. However, the traditional distribution transformer terminal has a single function and it has become difficult to meet the needs of the digital transformation and upgrading of urban distribution networks. To this end, the State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company has innovatively developed a "new intelligent integrated terminal". This device is equivalent to an "electronic maintenance worker" with a self-inspection function. It can help the staff members quickly understand the power grid structure, lock the location of faults, and ensure data security. Thanks to these new functions, in the face of the current situation of large-scale photovoltaic access in Yangzhong area of Zhenjiang, this device can successfully achieve full-volume monitoring of grid-connected photovoltaics and fault location within seconds.

"Handling distribution network faults in the past was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Now, the system can receive the alarm signals from the new device and indicate the location of the faults," said Chen Jiakai, who is in charge of equipment operation and maintenance at the State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company, citing an example. Since the new device was promoted and applied in November last year, 18 potential hazards have been discovered and dealt with in advance. The repair time has been shortened from 2 hours to 40 minutes, which is equivalent to recovering an additional 120,000 kWh of electricity for residents, enough for 400 households to use for a month.

This year, the State Grid Zhenjiang Power Supply Company plans to replace and apply this new device in 197 distribution areas locally. This will not only make the electricity consumption of residents safer and more reliable but also provide a Zhenjiang model for achieving the goals of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality".
