Chen Chunping, vice-chairman of Ningxia Hui autonomous region, discussed Ningxia's efforts in building the country's first comprehensive new energy demonstration zone at the Ningxia delegation's group meeting on March 6 during the third session of the 14th National People's Congress.
Chen emphasized the potential for new energy development by highlighting the region's annual average of 2,000 hours of wind utilization and 2,822 hours of solar exposure.
Chen highlighted that Ningxia is paving a high-quality development path by constructing a new energy system that drives green and low-carbon energy transition, industrial transformation, market growth, and ecological preservation.
Key initiatives include optimizing energy resources through strategic planning, integrating land use, grid access, industrial expansion, and export needs to advance new energy development in a coordinated manner.
The region is also expanding its clean energy industry by developing a comprehensive wind-solar-hydrogen supply chain and establishing a trillion-yuan industrial cluster.
In addition, Ningxia balances ecological protection with resource development through innovative models like agro-photovoltaic and grass-photovoltaic integration, significantly increasing vegetation cover in photovoltaic bases and supporting a broader societal shift towards green and low-carbon practices.
