State Grid Longnan Power Supply Company's spring inspections pay off

Maintenance work on the 330-kilovolt Wudu Substation and the 1117 Wuwan Second Line, under the jurisdiction of the State Grid Power Supply Company in Gansu province, commenced as scheduled on March 1, showcasing the smooth progress of the company's spring inspections.

Before the start of spring inspections, the State Grid Longnan Power Supply Company analyzed the equipment during the peak winter period of 2024 and formulated a new maintenance plan for the new year. During the maintenance period in March, a total of 14 level-six risks were confirmed.

To ensure the safe and orderly progress of the maintenance work, the company's dispatch center held a special meeting in advance to review the vulnerable points of the power grid, emphasizing "precision in the overall work" and "attention to detail".

The meeting proposed the adjustment of the operation, refining risk prevention and control measures, providing technical support for abnormal handling and ensuring reliable power supply during the peak summer electricity consumption period in Longnan, in a bid to effectively address lightning protection and flood prevention.

In response to the heavy maintenance tasks and tight schedules in spring, the company further improved the quality of equipment maintenance according to the work requirements of the higher authorities. It strengthened the practicability of contingency plans, using accident plans as guiding materials for accident handling. Focusing on details under accurate guidance, the company implemented a work operation delegating one person to carry out drafting work and two people to do reviewing and mutual learning to ensure speed and stability in handling abnormal power grid issues.

Before the start of the maintenance work, a special operation plan was approved after joint review. On-site safety measures and power-off sequences were verified item by item and through meticulous checks, operational errors were minimized.

The company also combined power grid risk points during maintenance, simulated power grid faults, equipment anomalies and other emergency scenarios, to exercise the emergency response speed and collaborative capabilities of various specialties. After the drills, a series of reviews and summaries were conducted to improve the dispatch operations.

"Spring inspection is the cornerstone of year-round power grid safety. It must achieve '100 percent preparation before maintenance, and zero errors during maintenance'," said Song Juwen, the head of the regional dispatch team of the Longnan company.

During maintenance, dispatch personnel closely monitored critical operational locations, controlling the power grid operation status with precision. Thanks to their intense concentration, a strong sense of responsibility and professional capabilities to permit work and conduct power grid risk control in a timely manner, the impact of maintenance on power grid safety was minimized to the greatest extent.

In the next phase, the dispatch center of the State Grid Longnan Power Supply Company will remain highly vigilant and closely monitor power grid operations. In preparation for the upcoming summer peak electricity consumption period, the company will comprehensively improve flood prevention measures.
