As China's Qingming Festival holiday begins tomorrow, major tourist attractions in Zhejiang province are rolling out interactive experiences, immersive performances, and tech-driven features to attract the anticipated holiday surge.

Here, the festival's traditional reverence is infused with modern attractions, offering visitors a unique blend of remembrance and recreation.

In Jiaxing's Xitang Ancient Town, tourists can drink seasonal tea at traditional stalls while boats sell local snacks and souvenirs.

These floating vendors, designed to echo the town's historic commerce, have attracted particular interest from international visitors. The site will also host live performances of Yueju Opera, a regional art form.

Hangzhou's Songcheng theme park, which recreates scenes from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), has launched a "Time Travel Carnival" running through May 5.

Visitors can expect pop-up performances with actors in historical costumes re-enacting life from over 1,000 years ago.

The Yandang Mountain scenic area in Wenzhou has deployed one humanoid robot and five robotic dogs to greet and entertain visitors.

Programmed to shake hands, wave, and dance, the machines are part of a broader plan to build immersive "robot and roleplay" tourism experiences.

These efforts to attract travelers come as China braces for a sharp rise in holiday traffic.

The National Immigration Administration said on March 1 that it expects border crossings to average 2.1 million inbound and outbound trips per day during the three-day holiday, up 21.4 percent from last year.

Extra clearance lanes have been opened at major land crossings and airports to ease congestion. The agency urged travelers to plan ahead and use its 12367 hotline or seek help from on-site officers for any immigration issues.
