Schaeffler debuts at Auto Shanghai after Vitesco merger

German auto supplier Schaeffler is showcasing its latest products and solutions at the ongoing Auto Shanghai, making its debut after merging with Vitesco Technologies.

The combined portfolio emphasizes advancements in electrification and intelligent applications.

"We're excited to show our customers how the merger of Schaeffler and Vitesco Technologies has made us truly stronger together and how this enhances our strengths and creates added value for our partners," said Matthias Zink, CEO of Powertrain and Chassis at Schaeffler.

The company's offerings span power train technologies, chassis applications, and vehicle bodies, positioning it as a leader in innovation and a driving force for the future, Zink added.

At the show, which runs to May 2, Schaeffler is showcasing a variety of components including bearings, ball-screw drives, solenoids, sensors, controllers, and the production processes of e-motor stators and rotors, as well as coolant manifolds.

Electrification has become the technology of future mobility, an irreversible trend in the global auto industry, especially in China.

Schaeffler's modular and scalable solutions can be tailored to meet diversified and growing customer demands.

The innovations on show include controllers, 800-volt silicon carbide power modules, integrated thermal management systems, battery management systems for electric motors, and highly integrated electric drives.

The product range meets customer needs for all types of electrified power trains, ranging from 48-V mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, through to pure battery drives, as well as fuel-cell drives.

The integration with Vitesco has also broadened Schaeffler's sensor and actuator capabilities, extending beyond chassis to vehicle body solutions.

Schaeffler highlighted a variable damping system, which can minimize vibrations from the road and vehicle's pitch and roll movements, and a fully active damping system to enable better vehicle dynamics and ride comfort. Production of the variable damping system is to start in Schaeffler's Xiangtan plant in Hunan province this year.

The year 2025 marks Schaeffler's 30th anniversary in China. The company has six R&D centers, 17 factories and a sales network across the country.
