China pledges continued cooperation with LAC countries

China on Wednesday reaffirmed its commitment to working with Latin American and Caribbean countries to continue mutual support and assistance, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and pursue development and revitalization.

The pledge was made as Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Honduran Foreign Minister Enrique Reina in Beijing.

With the joint efforts of China and Latin America, the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Forum was successfully concluded, Wang said, adding that he appreciated Honduras' contributions as a co-chair of CELAC to the event.

He emphasized that the realization of development goals by China and Latin America and the Caribbean will contribute to a more peaceful, stable, equal and orderly world.

China commended Honduras' reaffirmation of adherence to the one-China principle, Wang said, adding that it is willing to share governance experience with Honduras and will continue to provide assistance within its capacity for the improvement of Honduran livelihoods and capacity-building.

Reina told Wang that LAC is greatly inspired by China's important cooperation initiatives, particularly the five programs, ranging from solidarity, development and civilization to peace and people-to-people connectivity, and will work together to implement the Beijing Declaration and the China-CELAC Joint Action Plan for Cooperation in Key Areas (2025-27).

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2023, both countries have consistently respected each other, treated each other as equals, and achieved continuous progress in mutually beneficial cooperation, Reina noted.

"This fully proves that establishing diplomatic links with China was a completely correct political decision, in line with the global trend and the trend of the times," he said, pledging the country's firm adherence to the one-China principle.
