China to prioritize unified national market, curbing unhealthy competition

China will sharpen its focus on building a unified national market and curbing unhealthy market competition, according to the annual meeting of the expert advisory group of the State Council's anti-monopoly and anti-unfair competition committee.

The State Administration for Market Regulation, the country's top market regulator, said on Tuesday that the meeting emphasized the importance of aligning with key policy directives, including the acceleration of efforts to build a nationwide unified market, curbing destructive cutthroat competition, and strengthening antitrust enforcement and regulatory oversight.

Luo Wen, head of the SAMR and deputy director of the committee, called on the expert panel to align their work with the country's development priorities and to focus on emerging challenges, including fair competition governance.

Experts were also encouraged to take an active role in contributing insights that can enhance China's fair competition framework and ensure a more orderly market environment.
