Enhanced policies boost talent recruitment in Yangtze River Delta region

Shanghai is stepping up efforts to assist university and college graduates in securing jobs or launching businesses by providing solid support, according to thepaper.com on Tuesday.

Recently, Shanghai issued 29 specific measures to establish a full-cycle support system for employment and entrepreneurship for college graduates.

The measures include encouraging universities and colleges to invite employers to fully utilize campus recruitment resources, prompting more public institutions to conduct campus recruitment via various methods, such as policy consultation, employment guidance, and job position promotion on live-stream.

"The direct way of recruiting from employers is substantial for newly graduates," Chen Feng, a recent graduate, told the International Financial News.

In April, a job fair for 2025 college and university graduates at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics attracted around 1,000 companies from industries such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and fintech, providing over 21,000 job opportunities.

Cities along the Yangtze River Delta region have been actively promoting a multilevel talent introduction mechanism and employment promotion system through innovative policies.

Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province tailored multiple preferential treatments for talents earlier this year in sectors including housing, transportation, education, medical care, and more.

Suqian in Jiangsu province initiated job promotional activities to attract young professionals on May 21 to work and live in the city. The policy package includes funding subsidies ranging from 30,000 yuan ($4,172) to 500,000 yuan based on different talent ranking, voucher for housing purchase ranging from 30,000 yuan to 2 million yuan issued to students of all levels who work at full-time enterprises and public institutions or are entrepreneurs.
