State Grid Weihai Power Supply Company: 'Health check' on charging facilities to support green travel
"All electric vehicle (EV) charging piles in Yintan Tourist Resort have been inspected and are operating normally," reported the members of the Rainbow Communist Party Member Service Team from the State Grid Shandong Weihai Power Supply Company on June 12. The team visited five tourist service areas in Rushan city to conduct a comprehensive "health check" on the EV charging stations. They also provided policy promotion and interpretation of preferential electricity tariffs to serve the green and low-carbon travel needs of EV customers.
As living standards continue to rise, energy conservation and emission reduction have become significant global challenges. The promotion and use of electric vehicles have emerged as one of the effective ways to mitigate pollution and address environmental issues. To ensure that green services stay ahead, the State Grid Shandong Weihai Power Supply Company has installed charging piles in tourist service areas within its jurisdiction, facilitating travel for EV owners.
During the inspection, the service team members checked and tested various components of the charging piles, including the device modules, voltage stabilizers, human-machine interaction systems, and emergency stop buttons. They also monitored the current and voltage of the electricity metering devices to ensure stable and reliable operation. On-site, they provided detailed guidance, explanations, and services to customers using the charging piles, preventing issues such as card locking or disconnection due to improper operation.
"From the perspective of new energy, environmental protection, and low carbon, electric vehicles have become a hot spot in the field of new energy. These charging piles can charge an EV for 20 minutes, allowing it to travel 150 kilometers at a cost of only 14 yuan, which is economical and affordable," the staff member explained. Under normal temperature conditions, excluding extreme cold or heat, the charging capacity can reach 80 percent in just 30 minutes, costing only 20 yuan.
In recent years, with the national advocacy for green travel, zero-emission, low-energy-consumption, and high-performance electric vehicles have gained increasing popularity. The number of EVs used for self-driving tours at tourist attractions has been growing year by year. With the arrival of the summer vacation, to fully ensure the charging services for electric vehicles, the State Grid Shandong Weihai Power Supply Company has taken proactive measures. They organized workers to conduct comprehensive inspections of the charging piles within their jurisdiction, carried out detailed safety hazard checks, and focused on inspecting the grounding integrity, operational status, body, and charging guns for any signs of aging. This initiative aims to eliminate concerns for new energy vehicle users and ensure a worry-free and comfortable travel experience.
