In the summer, the Sun-Mountain-Sea Tourism Resort is lush with greenery, dotted with clusters of guesthouses nestled among the verdant mountains and clear waters. The evening glow bathes the entire coastline in a golden hue.

On June 10, as the mechanical hum of two large cranes approached, their massive arms extended and slowly moved into the power capacity expansion site in Renjiatai village, Wolongshan Street. The hooks at the tips of the cranes' arms traced bright silver arcs against the twilight sky.

"Ready—lift," came the command. The tension in the cables vibrated with the sound of the hydraulic machinery as the container-type transformer began to rise into the air.

"Lower the arm, tilt left by 5 degrees," the instructions continued. The brand-new transformer was carefully lowered onto the pre-poured concrete foundation, with the supports fitting perfectly onto the embedded bolts. The sound of wrenches tightening bolts mingled with the waves as the power workers quickly gathered around, using torque wrenches to complete the final fastening procedures.

"This upgrade is not just about replacing old lines with new ones; it triples the power supply capacity. No matter how many tourists or air conditioners are running, we can guarantee a steady power supply," said Li Botao from the Donggang Power Supply Center of State Grid Rizhao Power Supply Company.

Today, in the Sun-Mountain-Sea Tourism Resort, the guesthouse industry is booming and has become a vital engine for rural revitalization. However, with the growth of the guesthouse industry and the surge in tourists, the electricity demand has also increased significantly.

"The prerequisite for satisfying tourists is to first satisfy the local merchants along the coast," said An Fenglei, walking along the folk custom street. After learning about this situation, State Grid Rizhao Power Supply Company took the initiative to provide door-to-door services, visiting guesthouses and food stalls multiple times to conduct surveys. They decided to comprehensively upgrade and transform the power facilities in Wolongshan Street.

"Nowadays, tourists have more choices. Good food and comfortable accommodation are basic requirements, but they also look for popular photo spots," said Zhang Jie, the operator of Haiyuan Guesthouse, who kept wiping the stone stool in front of his door. During the renovation, the staff fully considered the electricity needs of the guesthouses. In addition to expanding the electricity meter capacity, they implemented a one-household-one-meter-box system, buried the household wires underground, and distributed 24-hour convenience service cards to make electricity use more convenient and aesthetically pleasing.

In recent years, with the continuous optimization of the coastal ecological environment in Rizhao, the popularity of coastal tourism has been rising steadily. To ensure a reliable power supply for coastal tourism, State Grid Rizhao Power Supply Company actively responded and launched a "three-year battle" for coastal tourism power supply security since 2023, giving a comprehensive "refresh" to coastal folk tourism.

In terms of service "refresh," the company innovatively applied the "Distribution Network Panoramic Monitoring Platform," dynamically monitoring the electricity load in scenic spots and folk villages from six dimensions, including power supply reliability and power quality. They conducted three special patrols per day on key lines and implemented "day + night" differentiated on-site protection to ensure a stable power supply during the peak season.

In terms of the power grid "refresh," the company solidly implemented the infrastructure supporting projects for the transformer district power grid. Relying on the 110 kV Lijia Substation, they completed the distribution of eight lines, including the 10 kV Lishan East Line and Lishan West Line, and successfully upgraded the power facilities in 18 tourist villages, including Zhangjiatai, Dachengjia village, Renjiatai and Wujiatai.

In terms of travel "refresh," following the principles of "moderately advanced, balanced layout, and intelligent efficiency," the company invested in the construction of public fast-charging stations, achieving full coverage of all 39 townships in the city. They have served a total of 821 public charging stations and 5,756 charging piles for social enterprises across the city, as well as 28,200 residential charging piles, ensuring that new energy vehicle owners can travel with "full power".

Currently, the power supply reliability in the coastal area has been increased to 99.99 percent. These measures have significantly improved the power supply reliability and further enhanced the confidence of local merchants along the coast.

"We often visit the merchants, and they have become familiar with us. Seeing their businesses thriving, we are genuinely happy," said Song Ke from the Donggang Power Supply Center of State Grid Rizhao Power Supply Company, smiling at the reporter.

As night falls, accompanied by the sound of waves, the neon lights of the guesthouses in the scenic area light up one after another, casting a warm glow on the joyful crowd on the beach. Strolling along Rizhao's coastline, the bright lights illuminate the beach, and the dazzling night view blends harmoniously with the sea and sky. The slight hum of the new transformer running is like a lullaby guarding the light.

They will keep this charming coastal area brightly lit and support the vigorous development of the coastal tourism industry.
