Integration of cognitive intel in AI progressing at unprecedented speed

Cognitive intelligence research experts and scholars from around the globe gathered at the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai on Sunday to explore the latest advancements in AI.

Themed "Cognition of the World, Innovation for Future", exchanges focused on cutting-edge meta-rationality, AI for mathematics, intelligent agent platforms, large model evolution, and consciousness Turing machines, hosted by UniDT (Shanghai) Co Ltd.

Discussions among scholars and experts from countries, including China, Norway, Brazil, Spain, the United States and South Africa, revolved around core frontiers of cognitive intelligence: cognitive reasoning, autonomous decision-making and causal learning.

Experts highlighted that cognitive intelligence represents an advanced stage in AI development, currently progressing at an unprecedented speed and breadth. The deep integration of cognitive intelligence in large model technology is expanding its application prospects.

Xuan Xiaohua, founder and chairman of UniDT, said that AI is rapidly transitioning from lab research to industrial applications, moving from the conceptual validation stage to large-scale implementation.

"The company will be committed to promoting independent innovation of key technologies and their applications, with a strong presence in intelligent manufacturing, social governance, digital culture and tourism, biomedicine, and other fields. Such efforts aim to deeply integrate AI technology with industrial scenarios, injecting innovative energy into the new industrial revolution and the development of new quality productive forces," he said.

On Saturday, an academic conference focusing on mathematics and AI, which is also part of this year's WAIC, convened influential scholars in the relevant fields from home and abroad.

The academic conference was jointly organized by the Smale Institute for Mathematics and Computation and the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and was co-hosted by UniDT (Shanghai) Co Ltd.

During his address, Zhang Hongtao, deputy director of the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Informatization, expressed Shanghai's high regard for the integration of mathematics and AI.

The city aims to propel innovation in mathematical foundations and the development of the AI industry to new heights, while establishing various platforms for industry-academia collaboration, and fostering an environment conducive to the development of innovative talent, he said.
