Shanghai's Qingpu district gears up for 8th CIIE

With eight days until the opening of the 8th China International Import Expo, Shanghai's Qingpu district, the permanent host venue, unveiled preparations to ensure smooth operations of the international trade event, according to officials on Monday.

Local authorities outlined initiatives covering international procurement, investment promotion, transportation logistics, and urban enhancement during a press conference.

"Qingpu trading delegation has expanded procurement networks and facilitated pre-expo matchmaking between suppliers and buyers," said Zhu Feng, deputy director of Qingpu district commerce committee.

The district has coordinated with the CIIE bureau and the National Exhibition and Convention Center to organize targeted business matching sessions and investment presentations, establishing efficient communication channels between industry players, Zhu said.

Zhu noted that 3,712 organizations and 26,425 professional visitors had already registered for the Qingpu trading delegation, marking significant growth in both scale and participation.

The district has bolstered its investment promotion team to 355 members, operating under a specialized engagement strategy. The team has compiled detailed profiles of key exhibiting companies through collaboration with the CIIE bureau and Shanghai trading authorities.

During the expo, Qingpu will host a promotion conference showcasing its strategic location, industrial ecosystem, and development prospects through policy announcements and project signings. A parallel cultural exhibition will highlight the district's heritage and integrated development across its industrial sectors.

Transportation infrastructure has received upgrades, according to Geng Weirong, deputy director of the construction and management committee of Qingpu district. The venue will be served by 10 parking facilities with 900 spaces for large vehicles, while small vehicle capacity has increased by over 2,000 spots to about 5,000 spaces.

Enhanced bus services will connect to Metro Line 9, with three dedicated shuttle routes operating between parking lots from 8 am to 8 pm. Two new "micro-vacation" bus routes, accessible via mobile app, will help visitors explore Shanghai's attractions with the bilingual guide.

The district has implemented comprehensive urban beautification measures, said Deng Chunxing, deputy director of the landscaping and city appearance administrative bureau of Qingpu district. Themed installations around the exhibition center will showcase the district's character through coordinated floral displays, landscapes, and lighting.

Capitalizing on CIIE's spillover effect, Qingpu's Baihe town has launched the Hongqiao "cross-border e-commerce + industrial belt" pilot zone, which features streamlined business services and a digital warehouse-port-distribution system that optimizes logistics efficiency.
