Zohran Mamdani has made history as New York City's next mayor — the 34-year-old Ugandan-born immigrant is the city's youngest mayor in more than a century and its first Muslim leader. His campaign centered on making life more affordable for working-class New Yorkers. Earlier in the race, President Trump endorsed Mamdani's opponent, Andrew Cuomo, and threatened to cut federal funding to the city if Mamdani won.
