Exhibition inks artist's five-decade-long career

After retiring as a college art teacher in Taipei in 2010, Lin Chang-hu went on to pursue a doctoral degree at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. In his thesis, Lin elaborated on the application of postmodern aesthetics in contemporary ink art, motivated by his long-term devotion to translating the scholarly spirit of the Chinese ink tradition into a modern context.

Lin has returned to Beijing with the ongoing exhibition A Heart for Rivers and Mountains at the National Art Museum of China. His paintings reveal his pursuit of a carefree state through art, nourished by the brilliance of nature. Lin has traveled extensively to experience the philosophical notion that ancient Chinese civilization developed while encompassed by mountains and rivers. The exhibition runs until Nov 19.
