Grid Coffee hosts Spanish roastery
As demand for specialty coffee grows in China, industry exchange events are becoming more common. This month, the domestic coffee chain Grid Coffee launched a two-week guest program in its Pro stores in Beijing and Shenzhen in Guangdong province, featuring coffees from Nomad, a roastery based in Barcelona, Spain.
The program was developed in collaboration with Jordi Mestre, Nomad's founder, whose roastery was ranked seventh on Roastful's 2024 Top Ten Roasters list. Mestre is a two-time winner of the Spanish National Barista Championship, and he represented Spain at the 2013 World Barista Championship.
Nomad is recognized by Europe's specialty coffee community for its focus on distinctive flavor expression. For the Grid Coffee collaboration, the Americano and latte drinks use Caturra beans sourced from Finca Vivid in Guatemala, grown at an elevation of 1,845 meters. The beans undergo a washed processing method that contributes to a clean and structured taste profile.
