Sustained fight against corruption urged
Party leadership emphasizes need to foster clean, upright political ecology
The central leadership of the Communist Party of China on Friday reviewed a report on the disciplinary inspection missions of the 20th CPC Central Committee focusing on the country's provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government, highlighting the need to maintain a high-pressure stance against corruption.
The report was discussed at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which was presided over by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
The CPC Central Committee carried out two rounds of regular disciplinary inspection missions this year, fully covering all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
The inspections revealed that there still exist some issues that have to be taken seriously and resolved with a high degree of political attention, according to a statement issued after the meeting.
It is crucial to earnestly rectify the problems identified during the inspections and integrate the rectification efforts with the study and implementation of the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee as well as with planning for economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, thereby promoting high-quality development, the statement said.
It was emphasized at the meeting that the Party committees in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities must rigorously study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly hold on to the strategic positioning of the CPC Central Committee for the region where they are, and consistently implement the major decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting's participants stressed the importance of having a correct attitude toward work performance, and urged full, faithful and comprehensive implementation of the new development philosophy, improvement of the mechanism for cadre assessment and evaluation, and adherence to practical approaches while seeking truth from facts.
It is important to consistently exercise full and rigorous Party self-governance and strengthen the supervision and management of the leading officials, they noted, urging efforts to consolidate and expand the achievements of the education campaign on implementing the guiding principles of the eight-point decision of the CPC Central Committee to improve the Party and government conduct, and regulate the exercise of power.
It was highlighted at the meeting that a high-pressure stance against corruption must be maintained to resolutely eliminate the soil and conditions that give rise to corruption and foster a clean and upright political ecology.
The meeting's participants called for strengthening the building of the leadership groups and cadres, and guiding and inspiring officials to be proactive in taking on responsibilities at work.
They also highlighted the need for the Party committees in all the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities to effectively prevent and defuse various risks and improve the social governance system.
It is important to deeply study and address common problems found in the inspections to advance and deepen the reform, they said.
