The Third China Overseas Talent Conference for Development commenced on Dec 1 in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province. With the theme "Uniting Overseas Chinese Talent, Forging a New Era of Innovation", this year's event gathered overseas Chinese talents, experts, scholars, and business leaders to explore cooperation and development, injecting fresh momentum into Fujian's high-quality growth.
Guided by the principle of "rooted in Fujian, serving the nation, and engaging globally", the conference was structured around five main segments: the opening ceremony, a talent-and-project matchmaking session, an Overseas Chinese Talent Convergence, and other key activities, totaling 16 major events.
The conference achieved unprecedented success in both reach and impact. The opening ceremony attracted 1,036 attendees, including experts, scholars, and representatives from professional institutions and associations across 39 countries and regions. International guests made up over 64 percent of participants, underscoring the gathering's "high-caliber, international, and new-generation" profile.
Notable moments at the opening included the flag-awarding ceremony for the conference's expert service team, signing ceremony for the "Open Competition", and the launch of the Maritime Silk Road-ASEAN International Industry-Education Integration Community, all designed to translate expertise into concrete outcomes.
To ensure a lasting impact, the newly established "Open Competition" will create channels for high-level overseas talent to connect with opportunities back home, driving industrial upgrades and promoting sustainable local economic development.
By successfully building a bridge for exchange and cooperation among overseas Chinese talent worldwide, the conference channels intellectual resources into developmental strengths, mobilizing broader support for China's modernization.
