China displays low-carbon efforts at special event in Cancun

CANCUN, Mexico - China on Sunday presented to the world its low-carbon strategies and practices at the China Day event on the sidelines of the ongoing?United Nations?climate change conference.
During the event, with the theme of "Low-carbon Development: China in Action," China showcased its low-carbon development at different levels through practice sharing, documentaries and panel discussions which gathered officials, regional and international representatives and green entrepreneurs from China and around the world.
As part of the event, international non-governmental organization The Climate Group published a new report on China's clean revolution, hailing some Chinese cities' leadership in combating climate change.
The report described how, since 2008, early-mover cities had started to develop low-carbon strategies that had become increasingly sophisticated.
Mark Kenber, deputy?chief executive officer?of The Climate Group, told Xinhua News Agency?that the clean revolution was not only necessary, but also extremely desirable; and that besides its climate purposes, this endeavor might also generate future jobs, economic growth and sustainability.
The idea of a low-carbon life style has been widely accepted by the Chinese as a symbol of high-quality life in some ways since years ago, the report said.
